Detail:
A solid red light indicating a disk is failed.
A blinking red light which in Supermicro systems with LSI controllers indicates a hot spare.
You could run the below command to pull all array, disk and controller information from your LSI controller using the below command:
storcli /c0 show all
Typically the drive should show up right away as the LSI controllers check for disks constantly and will raise an event showing the drive was inserted.
You could pull the log from the controller which shows all events that occur on the controller using the below commands, please replace FILENAME with whatever you would like to call the logfile:
storcli /c0 show events file=FILENAME
less FILENAME
