Questions regarding snapshots and encryption when using Ceph in QuantaStor
1) How many snapshots can a volume have in the Ceph based scale out block storage?
2) Is encryption supported in the Ceph based block storage?
Detail:
As far as we can determine there is no hard limit to the number of Storage Volume (RBD) snapshots you can create.There is no cap mentioned in the currently available Ceph documentation.
There is some resource usage for a snapshot so if there are too many snapshots there is a potential for some performance issues.
With regard to encryption support.
Yes, QuantaStor supports encryption of both XFS and ZFS based storage pools.
Ceph Pools are associated with OSDs each of which maps to a XFS based storage pool.
